How does the Blumat System Work? As the soil dries, the ceramic cone of the Blumat Classic delivers water gradually into the surrounding earth, creating a vacuum within the cone that draws water from the nearby container. Once the soil is moistened, the Blumat will cease the water flow, watering your plants only as needed.

Adjusting the Water Flow If the Blumat is over-watering your plant, you can place the reservoir lower (relative to the Blumat). The reservoir can be as far as 12" below the Blumat while still watering your plant, albeit at a slower rate. If the Blumat is under-watering your plant, you can raise the reservoir relative to the Blumat. The higher the reservoir, the faster the flow rate.

Instructions for Setup 1. Fill a bowl with water. Remove the top of the Blumat and submerge the ceramic cone in the water for at least 15 minutes. 2. Remove the cone from the water, keeping it as full as possible. Secure the green cap on top. 3. Push the ceramic cone into the soil and place the white anchor at the end of the 3mm tubing into a reservoir.

Controlling the Watering Speed - Ideal position: The water level in the container is the same or slightly lower than the green Blumat cap, allowing water to be dispensed according to the soil's moisture. - Lower water level: Watering is reduced as the roots need more energy to draw in water. - Higher water level: The Blumat Classic constantly discharges water, even if the soil is moist.
